image description: a woman whose arm is full of henna tattoos is playing with her hair and oozing confidence. title, ephemeral appears in white letters.

ephemeral: A feeling so powerful that anything can happen. Confidence so strong that it feels attainable to achieve the biggest dreams. But, only for a moment is this true. On average, a girl’s confidence peaks at age 9. Then it gets caught up with worldly expectations of beauty and worth.

How often I meet beautiful women who feel uncomfortable in their skin. Myself included.

image description: a silhouette-ish painting of a bipoc person with their eyes closed, feeling safe knowing that they matter. title, matter appears in white letters.

matter: “All Lives Matter, WHEN Black Lives Matter.” I read this recently. Stayed with me.

The Black Lives Matter movement somehow shifted to All Lives Matter. Yes, all lives matter. But how can ALL Lives Matter, if Black Lives Don’t Matter?

In the words of Michael Jordan, “The problems we face didn’t happen overnight and they won’t be solved tomorrow, but if we all work together, we can foster greater understanding, positive change, and create a more peaceful world for ourselves, our children, our families and our communities.”
